Haiti Bound

Joe and I BOTH will be traveling to Haiti a week from today as part of an emergency medical response team deployed by our church .  We will be joining a medical mission team which was already scheduled to be in Jeremie, Haiti in the upcoming week.  Latest word from the orphanage is that they have converted our medical clinic at the orphan village into a cholera treatment center and around 14 children are being treated with IV fluids etc.. We will assume care of the children for the week we are in Haiti.  We will also be providing immunizations to the healthy children in the orphan village.  We will be taking these immunizations with us and need everyone to pray for their safe arrival in Jeremie.  The vaccinations must be kept cool and other medical teams have encountered difficulties getting through Haitian customs causing either 2-3 day delay while baggage is "lost" or seizure of the bags.  We need major prayers these vital medications will make it safely and that we will have uninterrupted electricity until we can get the vaccinations administered to the children!
Unfortunately, we will be to far away from Ben and Ephtonline to get to see them!  This is so heartbreaking to us.  To be in their country and close yet so far away.  The latest word we heard regarding them is good.  We long for the day we will see them again and even more the day we will board the plane for that trip back to the States with them at our side!  I will never forget the feeling of helplessness and despair we felt the last time we had to leave them and come home.  We have truly been blessed by the opportunities God has given us to serve him in Haiti.  Please keep us in your prayers as we travel!  Love you all!
“Let us not become weary in doing good, for at the proper time we will reap a harvest if we do not give up.”  Galatians 6:9

  1. Amazing news! And, I can only imagine how you will feel being "so close, yet so far" from your kids. You are doing a wonderfully obedient thing though and God will be with you all. Praying for you and all the people of Haiti. Safe travels.
